What's Really Behind The Arena Doors?

Based upon our understanding of The Lady Or The Tiger?, what does this short story reveal about humanity? Does it challenge us to think about ethics and human dignity? Explain.

The short story of "The Lady or the Tiger" does indeed make you think a little after you have reading it. There is always the thought of yourself, but also you have to think about the other person in the conflict. it makes you think that people are so concerned with what they want rather than what is best for another person. In this case, the princess seems to be like her father in only caring about her happiness, and what would be the best for her. Yes she would lose the man she loved, but she would also save a life. It is a very challenging piece to understand the ethics and human dignity that is apart of the story, but after thinking, you realize there is not much used throught it.

In the short story "The Lady or The Tiger" we see that the princess loves the young man but does not wish for him to be with anyone else but her...this creates confilct between the princess and her feelings of ethics and dignity. Either way the princess would lose her lover. He either dies or he is forced to marry another woman. The princess could save his life and watch him leave with someone else or let him die and then meet him in their 'afterlife'. In present times men and women are tried for their crimes and is fouind guilty or innocent through clues and the choosing of a jury....not left to one person to turmoil inside for hours wondering if the one they love should die or marry someone other than themselves. Ethics and human dignity are hard to choose between when the choice is this difficult, it is best to think of the other person than yourslef when thinking of a choice between life and death.l

The story i think its very intersting at the end since u have to think about if it was the lady or the tiger. i would think it was the tiger because i dont think the princess would want her lover to marry that lady and also there would be no ways of the princess and her lover being together. Since they can't be together either ways she would just kill him.

In the short story “The Lady or the Tiger” there is a half insane princess and her fairly handsome lover. When the King discovers his daughters love, he arranges for him to meet the fate of the two doors. The time in between his finding of the situation and the trial the princess undergoes some serious thinking. The question being asked, will my lover come face-to-face with the tiger or the lady? I think in the end the princess chose for him to be killed by the tiger. The princess was too concerned with her pride to care about her lover. There was no way that her and her lover could live happily ever after. And added to the situation was the fact that she thought her lover was cheating on her with the woman behind the door. So, while the princess pondered at the dilemma with her half-barbaric brain she already knew inside that he would meet the fate of the tiger so she wouldn’t have to be humiliated.

The heart of a human can be split in two when asked to make a hard decision like in the story "The Lady or the Tiger". This story reveals how humans can be total opposites; selfless or selfish. For example, the princess would be selfless and very trusting by telling her lover to be with the lady. She would be selfish by telling him to pick the door with the tiger and be shreaded to bits. The question is though, what is behind the door. Many think she would never kill her lover for the sake of her feelings and degnity, but I on the other hand disagree. I think she picked the door with the tiger. The narrorater did say that she was semi-barbarck. The story also details the hate the princess has for "the lady". She cared too much about her feelings an self to let another woman have HER lover. In result to talking herself, she picked the door with the tiger waiting behind it.

In the story there are so many lost answers, is the man safe or is he going to be eaten alive because of a womens jealousy? In the story though it does teach us a lot about humanity. Yes she was jealous and semi-barbaric, but not as much as her father. He father is so intimidated by any man that enters his precious princess's life that whoever does so must be killed at once. He wants to get away from the so called "threat". The princess on the other hand loves this man and wants the best for him. She picks the door with the lady in it despite her jealousy. She would lose her lover yes, but in the end she now knows that he is safe from the clutches of the tiger. In the story you need to look in between the lines and see what the big picture is with the princess, he lover. She will do anything to save him. This piece helps you understand about human dignity and how it affects peoples decisions. The princess made a good one unlike her father who kills anyone that says boo to him. To understand this story you must see both sides of the story and then and only then you can decide for yourself which door she picked.

In the story "The Lady or the Tiger" it shows that you not only have to think about yourself, but you have to remember the other people too. This story does make us think about ethics and dignity for the same reson above, to remember ti think of the other person in the conflict.

In story "The Lady or the Tiger?" reveals that the princess is in love with the youth and no matter what door he chooses they can never be together. I think that this does challenge us to think about human dignity because we may all be faced with a scenario like this whether it be where we are in love with someone or we want something. In our world sometimes their is no way to get either. The lady had to make such an important decision as to telling him which door to choose. That challenged her dignity.

The short story of "The Lady or the Tiger" does make you think about humanity. The princess gets to choose whether the youth should live and get married or die. People usually think whats best for them and not for the other person no matter how big. I believe she chose the door with the tiger behind it because no matter how much she may have loved him she just couldnt bare to see him with another women.

In the short story "The Lady or the Tiger" shows how the princess is in love with the youth, and the youth has to make a decision as to which door to open. If he choses the the door with the tiger, he will probably die, and wont end up with the princess in the end, if he chooses the door with the lady behind it, he still will not end up with the princess, so no matter which door he opens, he will not end up with the princess. This challenges people to think about human dignity because, we have to make our own decisions, and we have to believe that whatever is happening is happening for the better good. Sometimes, you have to think of other before yourself, and think about others, I think the princess did the right thing, and chose the lady because, if he died from the tiger, then she would have to live with that guilt for the rest of her life.

In the story, I think it makes you think about the understanding of the human heart. It is difficult to grasp the many feelings the story tells us. But then again, you have to ask yourself, what is the moral of this story? The reason of its existince? Is it just to have the reader pick who comes out of the door? Is it just to have the reader try to go through the maze of human dignity and ethics? What was the author trying to get across to us?

In "The Lady Or The Tiger", a princess is forced to make a difficult decision: watch the man she loves die, or watch him marry another woman. I think the story reveals that the nature of humanity is a natuarally jealous nature. It is semi-disturbing to think that anyone would consider letting someone else die to prevent their own jealousy. The story really made me think about human dignity, because thorughout the whole story, I was asking myself "what would I have done?"
